HP ZBook 17 Mobile Workstation Review

HP ZBook 17 Mobile Workstation Review

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist of the HP Laptop Battery

While HP has changed the name of its mobile workstation notebook line, the HP ZBook 17 with battery such as HP ProBook 4330s Battery, HP ProBook 4430s Battery, HP ProBook 4436s Battery, HP ProBook 4530s Battery, HP ProBook 4535s Battery, HP HSTNN-DB2R Battery, HP HSTNN-IB2R Battery, HP HSTNN-LB2R Battery, HP HSTNN-I02C Battery, HP HSTNN-OB2T Battery, HP HSTNN-I99C-4 Battery, HP HSTNN-Q89C Battery remains a traditional workstation device. What does that mean for serious business users? The ZBook is a sizable notebook with strong performance levels and ample connectivity; the perfect work horse for users looking to tackle demanding computing tasks. However, with our test unit priced well over $3,000 that performance comes at a steep price.

Does the HP ZBook 17 warrant its high-end costs? Read the full review to find out.

With its powerful processor and ample memory normal computing processes prove to be no challenge for the HP ZBook 17. The notebook is also able to juggle multiple programs with ease, as NBR was able to run 4 HD streams along with 10 open web tabs in the background without seeing even the slightest drop in performance. Of course this is to be expected, as the workstation is designed to run far more taxing programs such as CAD with optimum performance.

In fact the only thing the HP ZBook 17 really can’t do is run high-end games. The workstation’s dedicated NVidia Quadro K610M will allow the device to run most games, but the notebook won’t be capable of handling demanding titles at higher settings. While the Quadro K610M may not be incredibly powerful by consumer standards, the GPU’s specially adapted BIOS and drivers make it an ideal choice for a workstation notebook. Particularity the graphic card’s OpenGL support provides excellent performance with programs such as AutoDesk, Solidworks and Adobe Creative Suite.

Equipped with a 128GB SSD the HP ZBook 17 offers responsive read and write speeds. Programs load almost immediately after being selected and the hefty beast was also able to load to the windows 7 start screen at an average of around 15 seconds. The only drawback to the small SSD is that it doesn’t offer a great deal of storage. Of course the HP ZBook 17 can be upgraded to house additional drives for more storage and users can always turn to cloud storage as well if they’re looking for more room.

To test battery life, we used our new PowerMark benchmark in balanced mode. The test consists of a combination of automated web browsing, word processing, gaming and video playback workloads. The test is far more strenuous than our previous test, measuring the machine under a litany of scenarios to better simulate real life use. With the test being far more demanding the scores are understandably lower than our previous benchmark.

In our tests, the HP ZBook 17 ran for 2 hours and 46 minutes at 107 nits before shutting down. Running shy of three hours the HP ZBook 17 won’t survive a full day off of its charger, but the device still offers decent battery life for a desktop replacement. Considering that our tests are more demanding than normal conditions, users should be able to get a few more hours of battery life. However, workstations are typically used to handle more demanding tasks and programs so it’s best to have the charger on hand when using the HP ZBook 17.

The HP ZBook 17 is a superb mobile workstation. The notebook boasts a sturdy solid design and offers ample connectivity. Equipped with an Intel Core i7-4900MQ CPU and an NVidia Quadro K610M GPU the devices provides top-notch performance perfect for demanding computing tasks. However, the device is also incredibly expensive at $3,340.

Users willing to concede on screen size may want to instead consider the 15.6” Dell Precision M4800. The device offers competitive performance matching the ZBook’s i7 processor at a far more affordable $2,590 starting price.

Of course the Precision M4800 doesn’t offer the same high-end viewing experience and lacks a DreamColor display option found on the ZBook 17. When it comes to pristine color detail and top of the line performance in a portable package the HP ZBook 17 is difficult to match.

HP ZBook 14 G2 Notebook

HP ZBook 14 G2 Notebook

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist of the HP Laptop Battery

The HP ZBook 14 G2 combines the slim form factor and battery life of an Ultrabook with the performance of a mobile workstation by including a dedicated AMD FirePro M4150 graphics card. We found a great deal to like about this 14" notebook during our review process including its performance, high quality display, cool and quiet operation and sturdy build quality. We were less thrilled about its lackluster keyboard feel but that didn' t prevent us from being able to give it a recommendation.

HP Zbook 14 G2 front 1Build and Design

The ZBook 14 G2 has a relatively pedestrian appearance as do most business notebooks. Its overly rounded corners give it a softer appearance which is balanced out by the dark color scheme. The gunmetal gray aluminum is exclusive to the ZBook workstations which visually separates them from HP' s EliteBook and ProBook business notebooks with battery like HP HSTNN-LB6V Battery, HP 246 G4 Notebook PC Battery, HP 256 G4 Notebook PC Battery, HP 14g-ad004TX Battery, HP TPN-Q132 Battery, HP 15g-ad007TX Battery, HP 15q-aj006TX Battery, HP 15q-aj105TX Battery, HP Pavilion 15-ac166TX Battery, HP Pavilion 15-ac196TX Battery, HP Pavilion 15-ac636TX Battery, HP Pavilion 15-ac601TX Battery.

The chassis construction is a mix of aluminum, alloys and high-strength plastics. Despite this and its inclusion of a dedicated graphics card, the ZBook 14 G2 is just 0.2 pounds heavier than HP' s slim 14-inch EliteBook Folio 1040.

The lid is nicely appointed with a rubberized edge which helps with grip when carrying the notebook and has the added bonus of keeping fingerprints off the brushed aluminum. The chassis has excellent rigidity with no noticeable flex even under pressure. The lid also has ample strength with only minor flex. We weren' t able to get ripples to appear in the display by applying pressure from behind which is a good indicator the display is well protected. The lid' s hinges allow the lid to be opened with one hand however we do wish they allowed it to tilt back farther than 45 degrees past vertical.

We use the demanding Powermark battery life benchmark to measure battery life. This test is a combination of automated web browsing, word processing, gaming and video playback at about 50% display brightness which is far more strenuous than a typical battery life rundown. The times recorded in this test represent a worst case scenario of what to expect in real life.

The ZBook 14 G2 managed four hours, two minutes which is a good time for a mobile workstation and average for an everyday Ultrabook. This is quite respectable given the ZBook 14 G2 packs a dedicated graphics card. This time translates to between six and seven hours of normal usage while running non-demanding applications with reduced screen brightness. In other words, close to a full days' usage per charge. The ZBook 14 G2' s battery is easily changeable as mentioned earlier, therefore it' s practical to carry a spare battery.

Our HP ZBook 14 G2 review unit has the following technical specifications:
.14-inch FHD display (1920×1080 resolution, IPS panel, anti-glare surface)
.Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

The study took place on hospital floors where patients are not continuously monitored, but rather monitored, following a set standard of care, every four hours by nurses manually taking the patients' vital signs.

The recruited patients were divided into a control group and an "alert notification" group. Both groups received Nihon Kohden's NTX wireless telemetry transmitters that sent continuous vital sign information to the Defensive Monitoring Work Station. Researchers received threshold-based alerts on their pagers when a patient in the alert notification group exhibited vital signs that were outside of predetermined limits. Researchers then notified the appropriate nursing staff, who checked the patient and determined if a Rapid Response Team should be notified.

While on study, the patient rate of unplanned transfers from the floor directly to an ICU unit was 85% lower than the non-study patients. The unplanned stepdown transfer rate dropped 69%.

The unplanned transfers that occurred in the study resulted in an admission length of stay that was two to four times the length of non-transfer patients. Had all patients on the study floors been placed on the study, an estimated $10 million in hospital costs could have been avoided.

The Nihon Kohden system that was used in this study can cost as little as $10 per day per patient and, based on the statistics of the study, it creates the potential for hospitals to save as much as $1,865 per patient.

"With the passage of the new healthcare reform legislation, it becomes critical that hospitals improve quality for all patients, creating a safer environment and driving down costs," said Mike Dashefsky, Vice President Patient Monitoring Group. "The study reaffirms that the Nihon Kohden Defensive Monitoring system achieves this goal, and we are extremely proud of the results."

"The concept of 'defensive monitoring' promises to improve the care of postsurgical patients and to reduce the most common morbidities in this population," said Dr. James Berry, "As well, continuous monitoring will likely show benefit in every hospital inpatient by providing real-time notification of critical changes in patient status."

Dell Precision 5520 Laptop

Dell Precision 5520 Laptop

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist of the DELL Laptop Battery

Dell's XPS 15 is one of our favorite laptops, thanks to its luxurious carbon-fiber-and-aluminum chassis, its colorful InfinityEdge display and its powerful performance. But what if you want the benefits of Dell's best consumer laptops, but need the power of a mobile workstation for professional 3D modeling, CAD or other intense tasks?

Enter the Dell Precision 5520 (starting at $1,399, tested at $2,659). It has the same chassis, screen and keyboard as the XPS 15, but packs the performance that a professional animator or engineer might need, including an optional 7th Generation Intel Xeon processor and Nvidia Quadro graphics. Add in excellent battery life, and the Dell Precision 5520 is the 15-inch workstation to beat.

The Precision 5520 has the same exact design as the company's gorgeous XPS 15 consumer laptop with battery like DELL Inspiron N5010 Battery, DELL Latitude E6400 Battery, DELL Inspiron N4110 Battery, DELL Inspiron N5030 Battery, DELL Inspiron N5110 Battery, DELL Inspiron N7010D Battery, DELL Inspiron N7110 Battery, DELL Latitude 5537 Battery, DELL 9TJ2J Battery, DELL Precision M4400 Battery, DELL KR854 Battery, DELL P267P Battery. Under its machined aluminum lid sits a luxurious carbon-fiber body, complete with a patterned, soft-touch deck that feels great against your wrists as you type. A nearly bezel-free InfinityEdge display completes this premium look and feel.

Weighing 4.4 pounds and measuring 0.7 inches thick, the Dell Precision 5520 is lighter than the HP ZBook Studio G3 (4.6 pounds, 0.7 inches) and thinner than the Lenovo ThinkPad P50 (5.8 pounds, 1.2 inches). The nearly identical XPS 15 weighs 4.6 pounds and is the same thickness.

You won't need to take along the Precision 5520's power cable for every single excursion. The workstation lasted an epic 11 hours and 57 minutes on the Laptop Mag Battery Test (continuous web browsing over Wi-Fi).

It easily beat the ZBook Studio G3 (5:08), the ThinkPad P50 (8:25) and the mainstream average (6:54). The Dell XPS 15, which we tested with a more power-hungry 4K display, lasted for 8 hours and 23 minutes.

The Precision workstation stays cool while you work. After we streamed 15 minutes of HD video on the notebook, our heat gun picked up a temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit on the touchpad (78 degrees), 83 degrees between the G&H keys and 87 degrees along the underside. All of these temps were well below our 95-degree comfort threshold.

Both beauty and the beast, the Dell Precision 5520 packs a vivid display and super-powerful processor into a slim and sexy chassis. Epic battery life is the cherry on top of this tasty cake. The only real knock against the notebook is the placement of its webcam, which leads to Skype calls where you're making people look at your knuckles and up your nose.

The ThinkPad P50 has a better keyboard, but uses a last-gen processor and has 3 hours less battery life. If you want the best combination of mobile workstation power, portability and style, the Precision 5520 is a no-brainer.

Dell Gives XPS 13 More Power with 8th Gen Core CPUs

Dell Gives XPS 13 More Power with 8th Gen Core CPUs

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist of the DELL Laptop Battery

The Dell XPS 13, our favorite overall laptop, is getting a major processor upgrade. At the IFA tech conference in Berlin, Dell announced that the laptop will get an update to Intel 8th-Gen processors. The revamped XPS 13 will be available on September 12.

Dell suggests that by pairing the new quad-core 8th-Gen CPUs with the Dynamic Power Mode it first used on the XPS 13 2-in-1, it can achieve up to a 44-percent improvement over last year’s model with a 7th-Gen processor.

That’s all without a hit to the battery life. Dell is claiming up to 22 hours of charge on a model with a 1080p display. The laptop with battery such as DELL 318-0397 Battery, DELL BTYVOY1 Battery, DELL C0C5M Battery, DELL 7XC9N Battery, DELL 451-11817 Battery, DELL Alienware M17X R3 Battery, DELL Alienware M17X R4 Battery, DELL Latitude 5537 Battery, HP Pavilion g4 Battery, HP Pavilion g6 Battery, HP Pavilion g7 Battery, HP Pavilion m6 Battery, will be sold with up to 4K screens, which could potentially affect the battery life.

While Dell says the new XPS 13 starts at $799, that’s a bit tricky, as it will continue to offer the laptop with 7th-Gen processors. That price is likely reserved for the less powerful Core i3-7100U CPU. The 8th-Gen Intel Core i5-8250U and i7-8550U are likely to be the most expensive options. Dell says the new lineup should mostly match up price-wise with last year's offerings.

We don’t understand why or for how long Dell is still relying on last generation chips, though it may be partially because Intel hasn’t introduced U-series Core i3 CPUs yet.

Additionally, while the 8th Gen Core i7 will be available in September, a Dell representative told me that the 8th Gen Core i5 won’t be available until October, while the rest of the chips will remain in their 7th Gen iterations.

Otherwise, it doesn’t appear that Dell hasn’t made any major changes to its flagship 13-incher. It looks the same, including the rose gold and silver colors. We’ll test the XPS 13 with 8th Gen CPUs (especially that 44 percent performance increase claim) when it hits our labs, but if you were worried about buying because of major new features or aesthetic changes, you’re not missing much.

Digital Power Measurement Digital signals cannot be measured with conventional methods used for video carriers because their power is spread over a band unique to each form of digital signal. CaLan products incorporate a digital signal measurement capability – technicians need only enter the center frequency, span and format for each digital signals in the unit’s channel table. The family also provides accurate average power measurement for return path TDMA (bursted) carriers.

Digital signal power is the total average power over a channel bandwidth around its center frequency. The 2010 can adapt to the unique bandwidth power characteristics of digital signals to make measurements as simple as reading a number on the display.

Data Storage The 2010 can store up to 90 history files in any one of six formats: level measurements, normalized channel scan traces, sweep traces, spectrum scan traces, and ingress measurement results. Each file includes time and date stamps with a 40-character, user-defined label.

Acterna JDSU HST-3000C Tester Copper SIM CU

Welcome to a Biomedical Battery specialist of the Acterna Battery

Improving the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of DSL services
With a market primed for broadband, operators are rapidly deploying DSL in their networks to deliver multimedia services over the existing copper wire in the local loop. Traditionally, one set of technicians performed individualized tests that qualified the copper while another set conducted DSL services testing and verification. In today’s market, however, operators can no longer afford the time, capital expense, and labor costs to conduct tests separately and incrementally. Furthermore, test solutions must generate results that have a strategic impact throughout an operator’s entire organization. This may include building customer loyalty by locating and fixing problems quickly, improving profitability by performing more tests with less staff, or leveraging workforce productivity by automating processes, methods, and procedures.

The Acterna HST-3000 with battery like JDSU GPDR204 Battery, JDSU LI204SX Battery, JDSU MTS-6000 Battery, JDSU LI204SX-60A Battery, JDSU LI204SX-66A Battery, JDSU LI204SX-60 Battery, HP VA7100 Battery, HP VA7110 Battery, HP VA7400 Battery, HP VA7410 Battery, Biocare ECG-9803 Battery is a modular handheld tester that can be built to order, to test the copper, test the DSL service and improve the process. Technicians use the HST-3000 copper base instrumentand the copper service interface module (SIM) to qualify, maintain, and troubleshoot the local loop. This same base instrument, with a second SIM that tests both ADSL and the copper, enables one technician to perform tests thatwere previously conducted by two technicians using different equipment.

For those technicians who only need to test ADSL, the instrument can be configured for ADSL functionality only. Any HST-3000 module equipped to perform ADSL service tests can also verify ISP and Internet connectivity with the Acterna Advanced IP Suite software option. With the HST-3000 minimize the time and reduce the capital expense and labor cost associated with ADSL and copper testing.
